How might we create a low cost, securing system that enables complicated pediatric wound dressings to remain in place? In the MSF context, we are faced with many different types of wounds - some of the most challenging being those of the pediatric cases we see.

At the MSF Sweden Innovation Unit (SIU), we practice a human-centered design approach to innovation projects. Essentially this means that we strive to consistently put end-users first and ensure their needs are properly researched, understood and analysed as the first stage of any MSF SIU innovation project.

As with any innovation project collaboration is central to success. When it came to optimizing MSF autoclaves, a core part of MSF Field operations, this realisation was put into action resulting in close partnership with various MSF operational centres, health system actors, industry and academia. MSF know a lot - but we by no means know it all.

There is an elephant in the room in the humanitarian health sector. While we have mastered many skills in responding to acute humanitarian health needs, how environmentally sustainable are our efforts in the long term?
